Books instead

OK, I'm giving up on finding fifty positive things about being 50 - mostly because it is exactly the same as 49.  Ah well.
How about books...
I love books. I don't care if they are in the traditional paper form or if I read them on a tablet.  Lately, I have been reading a Margaret Maron mystery - Three Day Town - and Rick Riohrdan's Percy Jackson series. I always have at least two books on the go.
I'm on the last PJ in the first series The Last Olympian.  These books are a quick and enjoyable read.  I have thoroughly enjoyed them.  In fact, I have really enjoyed all the books my daughter has me reading. She has now started the PJ sequel series, the Lost Heros. She's on the second book and is totally rivetted.
We are also going to read A Great and Terrible Beauty for our mother/daughter book club.  What a hoot. I love the book club. Once a month, we get together at the house of one of the girls.  We chat about the book, eat nibblies, socialize and draw for the next book. It's been great fun and a real pleasure to hear the thoughts of these young readers.
Our last book was The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer. It's a post-apocalyptic novel about a clone who discovers his individuality and struggles to survive in a world where clones are tand reated as livestock.  What a great read!  And very thought provoking.  The ending was forced and a titch too contrived but everything else was very engaging.  There were social parallels from our past and present including forms of government, human greed and frailties, and overcoming hardships. It's a feel good story perfectly suited to make young readers think and to feel hope, justice and all sorts of positives.  Even if you just want a good read without thinking about all these deep ponderings, this is it!  I hope you enjoy.
